Community allotments in Southall

Southall Transitions

Tuesdays from 11.30am to 2.30pm

These community allotments offers a tranquil and family-friendly environment to all budding gardeners.

The garden is open to everyone and is operated in a very informal manner. There are no forms to fill in and sessions do not need to be booked in advance. It is a place where people can make friends, get to know their neighbours and learn how to grow food. The produce is shared amongst the gardeners. No prior experience is necessary. People can just turn up and get stuck in. Refreshments are served on a bring & share basis.

This garden is run by Southall Transition, an initiative seeking to work from the grass roots in encouraging local people to think and act together in a more sustainable way. They are a part of the Transition Towns movement which works to build community resilience in the face of climate change and future energy scarcity. In Southall, their focus is on reducing environmental degradation and fossil fuel dependency while increasing food security and building resilience in the face of economic uncertainty.

Southall Community Garden is located in the Bixley Field Allotments and can be accessed from Willowbrook Road, off Havelock Road.

Wheelchair access is possible but difficult due to rough terrain
