To celebrate Dementia Awareness Week and raise awareness around dementia, we are hosting a Sensory and Memory walk in Walpole Park.

We are inviting people with dementia, carers, family, friends and anyone else who would like to join us on a sensory walk around the park and to share memories.

The walk will take approximately 1 hour and will be led by Vanessa Hampton, Walpole Park Manager and accompanied by Patricia Hayward, Resource Manager of Michael Flanders Centre.

This will be followed by refreshments and cakes in the Rickyard from 12-1pm to continue to share our memories and some tasty treats!

Dementia Friends gives people an understanding of dementia and the small things you can do that make a difference.

A Dementia Friend learns a little bit more about what it’s like to live with dementia and then turns that understanding into action – anyone of any age can be a Dementia Friend. Dementia Friends Information Sessions are run by volunteer Dementia Friends Champions, who are trained and supported by Alzheimer’s Society. Each Information Session lasts around one hour. You will learn more about dementia and how you can help to create dementia friendly communities. There are information sessions running across England and Wales.
